The History of BHI

Welcome to Buwalda Hybrids International (BHI).  BHI was founded in 2004 to give a web platform for various projects that the site owner, Scott Buwalda, International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) five-time Expert Division champion, embarked upon.  This included various notable project cars builds, being a dealer of a few select high-end car audio brands, proctoring Sound Quality Summit™ car audio training seminars, project sponsor promotion, media outreach activities, sponsorship of local car audio sound-off competitions, speaker testing and being the pre-cursor to Hybrid Audio Technologies, and hosting the Buwalda Hybrids International Bulletin Board.

That was then, this is now.  Here's what has changed in the last several years:

• Hybrid Audio Technologies is a strong, viable company that makes the world's finest and best-sounding car audio loudspeakers.  When we first started BHI, Hybrid Audio didn't exist.

• All outside project car work has been suspended in favor of building cars "in-house" for use by the company, and/or its team members and distributors for display of Hybrid Audio Technologies products and/or for use in organized competition.

• We no longer are a dealer of specialty brands for other companies, for they are now our competitors, and frankly, the product we manufacture eclipses the performance of the brands we used to sell and distribute.

• The Sound Quality Summit series has been suspended domestically because of the poor economy, and the general consensus that a few hours spent on Wikipedia and being a regular member of your car audio forum of choice already makes you an expert, and you can't learn anything additional.  We do, however, continue to accept requests for international Sound Quality Summit events.

• Our Nissan Silvia Spec. GT-R, a seven-year project, is finally done, and is now the main focus of this website.  To this end, we market our sponsors, campaign this and other contemporary project vehicles, encourage editorial and build-up features of our project vehicles, proliferate our media campaigns, and be an international advocate of high-end car audio, styling, and performance.

• We continue to host the Buwalda Hybrids International Bulletin Board, where enthusiasts all around the world gather to share and learn.  The difference now is the bulletin board is the unofficial home of Team Hybrids and Hybrid Audio Technologies, car audio's most prolific, trophy-dominating force, and car audio's finest car audio speaker manufacturer, respectively.
